Mr. Schultz aqcuired Spectrum Surgical Instruments Corporation in 1983. Under his direction, the company has grown to national presence. Mr. Schultz lectures on: Instrument Processing and Quality Assurance and Cost Reductions Through Effective Instrument Processing and Repairs. Mr. Schultz consults with hospitals on processing and productivity development. He is a contributing editor for the books; 1) “Sterilization Technology in the Healthcare Facility, Second Edition” and 2) ”Central Service Technical Manual, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Editions”. On May 4, 1999, Mr. Schultz received the “Destinction of Honor” award for his commitment to education in the healthcare industry and on May 9, 2002 he was named Educator of the Year by the International Association. Mr. Schultz authored the text book, “Inspecting Surgical Instruments; an Illustrated Guide” which has been developed into a national certification program. In October of 2006, Mr. Schultz was named American Hospital Association Educator of the Year and in August 2007, Mr. Schultz was chosen by Healthcare Purchasing News as one of the 30 Most Influential People in Healthcare Sterile Processing. Mr. Schultz was recently elected by industry colleagues to serve as chairman of the IAHCSMM Corporate Advisory Committee. He is the father of two boys and is a soccer coach and baseball coach.

Mr. Schultz recently speaks at the Regional Education Summit at Houston Methodist Hospital on the subject of Making the Patient Safer Through Effective Surgical Instrument Testing, Inspecting and Instrument Processing.
